OK, conservative Republicans and Tea Party activists who march lock-step with you: you are licking your chops in anticipation of taking control of the House and Senate in this year's mid-term elections. As of this writing, though, you have provided no specific answers or suggestions as to why you, and not the other party, are the ones best suited to shape the nation's policy and solve its many problems, especially those concerning the high number of unemployed we still have. If you really think you are capable of solving the great many problems we face, please PROVE this to us by answering, in specific detail, the questions posed to you below:
WHY DO YOU PRACTICE OBSTRUCTION AND COMPLETE NON-COOPERATION WITH THE PRESIDENT AND HIS PARTY? No person or group is right or wrong ALL the time. Why, then, do you persist in blocking or stalling virtually everything this President or his party has put forth for consideration? Why do you hate the President so much? He has extended himself to you far more than did his predecessor toward the Democrats. Why must everything be "my way or the highway" with you? Why do you choose to block legislation, or even shut the government down, rather than openly and HONESTLY discuss and give real consideration to proposals? Why won't you try to compromise and collectively forge new legislation? Is it because you are rigid, too doctrinaire, and put your own desires far in front of the overall public good, or what?
WHY DO YOU EXAGGERATE AND LIE SO MUCH? Why do you and your spokespersons (your party leaders, your PACS, your talk radio and Fox "News" hosts) make ridiculous statements such as the President is a socialist whose programs like the auto bailout are designed to have the government take over American business? GM, for example, is now free of government control and is once again issuing stock. At NO point did the government take control of GM's bank account, or put its board of directors on a controlled public payroll. How do you explain that? Why did you say the Obama health care plan is a government-run plan, when it isn't, and why did you say it would put the elderly in front of "death panels" that would encourage euthanasia? None of this was true. WHY DO YOU LIE SO MUCH?
WHY DO YOU PORTRAY YOURSELF AS THE PARTY OF RELIGION AND MORALITY? You hold no monopoly on morality, and some of your biggest advocates of "Christian values" are poor moral examples like "conservative" office holders David Vitter, John Ensign, or Mark Sanford, who either frequent prostitutes or conduct sordid extramarital affairs (sometimes even at taxpayer expense). Or former Representative Mark Foley, who sent repeated sexual emails to teenage pages? Jesus preached love and taking care of the poor. Why, then, do you preach hate (against immigrants, gays, and Muslims), and try to use the government to deny them certain rights? Why do you oppose and even cut funding for programs fwhich help the weak, poor, and needy? Are you Pharisee hypocrites, or do you simply think it is more important to aid only the rich and powerful with huge subsidies and unneeded tax cuts? What's that, you say? Churches and charities should be the ones tending to the needy, and not the government? Nice idea, but only the government has the scope or resources to properly do THAT job. And, since you have supported the export of American jobs and economic policies that favor only the rich, we have now reached the point where the middle class (the major supplier of funds for churches and charities) can no longer afford to fund these groups as they have in the past. Most importantly, though, God the Father and Jesus laid down voluntary-compliance laws for humans to live by. They never appointed ANYONE to be Moral Police to force others to comply. Why, then, have you taken this role on yourselves? Who do you think you are, anyway?
WHY DO YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT DEFICIT SPENDING ONLY WHEN THE DEMOCRATS ARE IN POWER? We hear you screaming about the national debt and our budget deficit non-stop these days, but only 5-8 years ago, when YOU had total control of the White House and Congress, you and President George W. Bush turned a $127 billion SURPLUS into a $455 billion DEFICIT. You did this by cutting taxes for billionaires who didn't need the extra money and by conducting an unnecessary and fraudulent unfunded war in Iraq using private, non-bid military contractors. Your own Vice President, Dick Cheney, said "deficits don't matter." If deficits didn't matter to you then when YOU were in power, why do they matter to you now when you're not in power? Is it because much of today's deficit is money being spent on people and jobs instead of going almost exclusively to millionaires and the military/industrial complex? Who do you think you're kidding?
WHY DO YOU KEEP CLAIMING TO BE "PRO-LIFE"? Opposing abortion but supporting the death penalty, as most of you do, is certainly not "pro-life". Supporting a pre-emptive war where hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians are killed (some even by mercenary contractors you funded) is not "pro-life." Forming and joining armed militias, as some of you have, for the sole purpose of someday killing agents of the government to "protect freedom", is hardly "pro-life." Supporting protection of an infant in the womb but opposing government aid for it once it is born is not a "pro-life" action; certainly not a pro-quality-of-life action! And, most of all, if you're REALLY opposed to abortion, why did you not outlaw it altogether during the early and mid-Bush years, we you had complete control of the legislative and executive branches of government, and de facto control of the Supreme Court and judicial branch? Could it be that you really don't care about abortion at all, and only want to use it as a political tool against Democrats?
WHY ARE YOU SO PARANOID? Why do you fear and distrust Muslims, African-Americans, Hispanics, Europeans, intellectuals, the poor - anybody who might be a bit different than you, or who may disagree with you on something? Why do you feel that members of the aforementioned groups must be kept "in check" and under control? Why don't you accept them or get to better know and understand them? Why do you lash out at those who disagree with you by calling them inflammatory names like "socialist", "communist", or "terrorist"? And why do you infer that your opponents aren't patriotic? Why is your party almost overwhelmingly white and affluent? Why are you so cynical about humankind? You trust the abstract "market" to always do the right thing and correct itself by itself, yet you don't trust government of the people and instead want to keep that government tiny, impotent, and ineffectual. Why? Is it because you, yourselves are untrustworthy? Why do you support pre-emptive, aggressive war, and want to dominate the entire world? Are you afraid of EVERYBODY?
WHY DO YOU INSIST THAT FURTHER TAX CUTS FOR THE WEALTHY WILL CREATE JOBS, GROW OUR ECONOMY, AND BALANCE OUR BUDGET?You claim you want to balance the budget, but you paradoxically support continuation of huge tax cuts for the very, very rich. You claim these tax cuts will lead to the creation of new industries and new high-paying jobs here. But such was not the case when you cut taxes for the rich last time under George W. Bush. Instead, millions of jobs were sent outside our borders (along with entire plants), and working wages here were frozen or CUT. Those were the biggest tax cuts in history, yet the Bush administration produced the LEAST number of jobs of any Presidency since Herbert Hoover! Where are the jobs THOSE tax cuts were going to produce? Why will it be different THIS time, and why should we believe you on THIS?
WHY DO YOU INSIST THAT THERE MUST BE LESS REGULATION OF BUSINESS AND FINANCE?Why, after lax mortgage, stock market, and finance regulation led to the Great Depression, $4 per gallon gasoline, and the mortgage banking collapse which plunged us into our current Great Recession, do you insist we need less regulation? Regulation did not cause these disasters, nor did it cause the recent devastating BP oil spill. Rather, it was LACK of enough or proper regulation that caused these tragedies! Much the same with the increasing incidences of lethal e-coli and salmonella outbreaks occurring in our beef, pork, poultry, and vegetables. You love to say government is the problem and not the solution, and that the free market will correct itself and correct its mistakes. But the government didn't cause these bad occurrences---greed (i.e. the "free market") did. So why do you keep calling for l;ess, rather than more, or better, government oversight for public safety?
WHY DO YOU KEEP SAYING YOU WANT TO "TAKE THIS COUNTRY BACK"? Take it back from WHOM? The government of, by, and for the people? And who will you give it TO? The wealthy, powerful, and privileged? To Sharron Angle, who mistakenly thinks people have a right, guaranteed them by the Constitution, to shoot agents of our government when they aren't doing exactly what we want? To Sarah Palin, who doesn't even know past history, current events, or what a Vice President's job is? To Michele Bachmann, who thinks there are anti-American elements in Congress, and who believes the wealthy should be protected from the people instead of the other way around? To Rand Paul, who thinks that private busuinesses and organizations ought to be able to exclude whomever they want without outside interference? To multinational corporations, who care only for their own profit and nothing for this country or its inhabitants? Sorry, teabaggers and Republicans - it was YOU who stole this country away from the majority of the population, who are average working people.YOU stole it away and turned it over to big business and the military/industrial complex. Government regulation directed at those entities is the only recourse and protection from them the average person, the MAJORITY, has. To insist otherwise is CRAZY!
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO SPECIFICALLY TO HELP PEOPLE WHO NEED HELP THE MOST? Will privatizing Medicare and Social Security make life better or more comfortable for our elderly? Of course not---life will become WORSE for most, and better only for the wealthy. Will ending welfare clean up our decaying cities, build and repair bridges, and raise the nation's standard of living? DEFINITELY not! We already know that more tax cuts for the wealthy does not lead to job creation. So what specifically will you do, that President Obama and the Democratic Congress have not already done, to create jobs and raise the country's standard of living? Will you involve us in a costly new war? Is THAT your plan? Do you REALLY have a new set of practical solutions to solve our many problems, or...
...will you just be feeding us your same old _ _ _ _ ?
I'm pretty sure I already know the answer.

They won't answer you questions Jack. They will only shout that you hate America as if idiocy is a requirement to be a good American.
Thanks for the very sad but very trie comment, Honorable Truth 101. Blog on, brother!
Jack, fabulous post - I think you nailed all the significant points. Kudos to you.
I'm sending this to my Repub father for all the good it will do.
Thanks, Lisa G. I hope I don't cause a family rift for you---I can see where most of this would make a dyed-in-the-wool Republican go ballistic, but the truth sometimes hurts...
I friend of mine wrote, the right wing is born with a idiot gene. No matter what is expressed or shown to be true, they will not believe it. They are incapable of grasping reality.
So I'm wondering why the hell do I spend 4 and 5 hours a day trying to convince them of the error of their ways. I must be a idiot too.
Jack you were right on with your post.
I have to wonder if it will convince any rightys.
This post pretty much sums up why the Republicans are not ready to be back in power. Which is why its putative targets will not respond to it.
With the exception of the last question and of (partially) the "Why are you so paranoid?" one, the genuine answer is "because it works". They have a comfortable lead in the polls, so why should they change what they're doing?
Their base is essentially nuts and voters in the center are mostly concerned about unemployment, the lack of progress against which, people naturally blame on the party in power, regardless of who was originally at fault. Republican politicians need to appeal to both groups. Presenting a platform of specifics or even facing reality would only alienate one group or the other.
The obstructionism and lies are working because of the critical mass of people who aren't paying attention. They notice only that the Democrats are having trouble getting things done, not that Republican obstructionism is the root of the problem.
As for parading as the party of religion and morality, that's what their base wants. A lot of their base consists of people who are angry and frightened of social change and want to re-assert their position on the pecking order by beating down the kind of people who could always be safely beaten down in the past -- the fags, the atheists, the "immoral" women who got in trouble and needed abortions. They see the hypocrisy, but that's less important than seeing the commitment to keeping those people down.
And of course they will do all they can to avoid facing questions like yours. Look how carefully figures like Palin control media access to themselves and avoid debate or anything like debate. They know they would fall apart.
It's up to major Democrats who can get media attention to push the counter-narrative.
Gallup's latest generic-ballot poll shows the Democrats doing better. It's too soon to tell whether it's just an outlier or Obama's recent speeches pulling some centrist voters back.
Nail-head! Know thy enemy. NO!- the enemy.
The Party of No, Jack, will not answer any of these poignant questions that you raise because, in fact, they have NO answers other than "No!"
"WHY ARE YOU SO PARANOID?" you ask. Why? Because they never grew into adulthood- they never became fully-functioning adults. They are stuck somewhere back in adolescence, that horrid time of life that we all said good-riddance to long, long ago.
Stuck, Jack, stuck in adolescence, pretending to be so grown-up but living in fear- fear of the other.
Those of us who live our lives to the left of center on the political spectrum have fully matured into adulthood. We understand that there are many 'others' with whom we share our country, our world.
Yet, those on the right-side of the spectrum have not matured as fully as we. They see 'the other' as an enemy, a danger to their existence, to their subsistence.
It's all about maturity, Jack. They stopped maturing psychologically and spiritually [in the broad sense] as their bodies matured into adulthood. I'm fully convinced of my hypothesis and, if you keep this in mind as you examine all of the fine points you raise in this post, you will find that the lack of full-personhood development is the answer to each question.
They are stuck in immaturity, Jack. They are boys in adult bodies.
Tim,
You are not in the least an idiot, and I would say if you and I can both make even one rightie see the light, then our time was well spent.

Infidel 753,
I would say the country deserves far better than Republican game-playing and the silly non-solutions the GOP is hollowly offering. The games they are playing will net them limited short term success but long term failure.
We need more Alan Graysons and Sherrod Browns to step forward and talk plain common sense, and to expose the GOP for its lies and hypocrisy. Meanwhile, you, and and all the others just have to keep chipping away, one blogpost at a time.
mud_rake,
It seems that every age has its paranoids and delusionists, and this one is unfortunately cursed with our modern conservative Republicans and teabaggers, neither of which are truly conservative nor republican in nature. I think you have a point in raising the lack of maturity issue. Neither their behavior nor their incomplete and faulty reasoning show much maturity or wisdom.
Since Muck_Rake said this seemed appropriate:
http://www.kenrahn.com/jfk/conspiracy_theory/the_paranoid_mentality/the_paranoid_style.html
American politics has often been an arena for angry minds. In recent years we have seen angry minds at work mainly among extreme right-wingers, who have now demonstrated in the Goldwater movement how much political leverage can be got out of the animosities and passions of a small minority. But behind this I believe there is a style of mind that is far from new and that is not necessarily right-wind. I call it the paranoid style simply because no other word adequately evokes the sense of heated exaggeration, suspiciousness, and conspiratorial fantasy that I have in mind. In using the expression “paranoid style” I am not speaking in a clinical sense, but borrowing a clinical term for other purposes. I have neither the competence nor the desire to classify any figures of the past or present as certifiable lunatics., In fact, the idea of the paranoid style as a force in politics would have little contemporary relevance or historical value if it were applied only to men with profoundly disturbed minds. It is the use of paranoid modes of expression by more or less normal people that makes the phenomenon significant.
Of course this term is pejorative, and it is meant to be; the paranoid style has a greater affinity for bad causes than good. But nothing really prevents a sound program or demand from being advocated in the paranoid style. Style has more to do with the way in which ideas are believed than with the truth or falsity of their content. I am interested here in getting at our political psychology through our political rhetoric. The paranoid style is an old and recurrent phenomenon in our public life which has been frequently linked with movements of suspicious discontent.
To be quite frank, the US has a long tradition of being anti-intellectual and simple solutions appeal to those who don't think.
Laci,
Thanks for stopping by again and for providing that insightful information. It is very relevant and I found your very last sentence to be most observant and ring very true!
Hello Jack,
Very good posting with very good and to the point questions. You can judge the size and character of a man by the way he treats the meek and helpless.
I have offered similar questions to the Teabaggers I have met at Republican gatherings…..Such as, "What do you suggest as a solution to the immigration issue."
This is no lie as I have been told, “Round them all up and send them back….. Hitler was able to gather up all the Jews and shipped them off!!”
Well Jack we all know how well this turned out and this is the suggestion of a Teabagger proclaiming, “We Need To Take Our Country Back.”
This is the type of people we are having to deal with in my Republican Party proclaiming Sarah Palin is the answer to the next Presidential election.
The “Radical Right” that has way too much influence within my Republican Party making it a very sad state of affairs.
To conclude referencing my opening statement….They are very small and sad people indeed.
Thank you for stopping by, Engineer of Knowledge! It is horribly regretful that sensible moderates like yourself have been pushed out of your party by the far right which has hijacked it. I am not surprised by the response you got on immigration from some teabaggers. They are radical, simplistic, snap-judgment types who show little rationality or reasoning ability. The rash, ignorant, and very ill-informed Sarah Palin types will not only destroy the GOP, but may irreparably damage the entire country before they disappear as they most certainly will. I look very forward to someday seeing wisdom, tolerance, and good judgment once again infuse the Republican Party. Don't give up and keep working toward that goal. The country and your party needs people like you.
May I add one more question for the Tea-Party candidates, Jack? "Why do you hate the troops?"
Those tea-baggers have been ranting and raging against Muslims for months now- even carrying signs that our President is a Muslim.
So, where is their outrage at that idiotic pastor in Gainesville? Where are the cries from the right-wing against the Quran burning?
Everybody in the military is warning against it, that it will endanger the lives of our troops!
But the Tea-Party doesn't give a damn about them- only themselves getting elected by stoking anti-Muslim anger in the right-wing of the GOP.
Where are the Tea-Party candidates? Silent, watching from the sidelines like the cowards they are!
Good question, mud_rake. I think it's pretty obvious that many of the teabaggers (and this goes for Pastor Jones, too) see the world in an overly simplistic way. They don't have the wisdom or breadth of vision to look beyond their immediate actions or proposals to be able to analyze what the effects of those actions or proposals will be. They're trying to address the world's problems with a quick 15 second radio ad, when the situation at hand really demands a 90 minute video documentary. That is why when they try shooting from the hip they often blast themselves in the feet instead. And that is a good reason none of them should hold elective office.
Mud Rake beat me to it, Jack. Your generic Tebuggedry addicts know only what they are told to say, including that nobody told them to say it.
Well, let's see. This was posted on Wednesday and it is now Saturday. No conservative, republican or teabagger has answered any of your questions, not even an answer filled with lies.
Like the problems with the economy, jobs, and the state of the country in general, the republican has no answers to these problems or your questions.
Yet, they want to govern!?! NO is not a solution. You cannot govern when you are part of the problem.
via Infidel. A superb post. Profound actually. There have been so many excellent comments that I'm kind of left with my mouth hanging open in awe and with not much to offer in the way of anything new or enlightening.
I doubt if Tea Partiers would stop by to even read this, which is probably why you're not hearing from them - and it's further proof that they cannot deal with facts and reality.
This should be an op-ed piece in the WaPo or the NYT. Why don't you give it a try? Or, maybe in the WSJ! Heh, heh, heh.
I've bookmarked it and will email to people. Two things I'd like to do: 1) On my FB, I'd like to put up, with proper links to you, each one of these points on a day by day basis. Most of my friends are Dems; most of my family are Tea Partiers. 2) I'd like to provide a link from my blog as well. This is not only a necessary read for Republicans but for Dems.
In other words, I'm really impressed with your thoughts, the research and the organization. I'm also adding you to my blog roll. All I'm left to say is WOW!
Jerry,
It just goes to show that these far right teabagger types can dish it out but can't take it, as Sarah Palin and Sharron Angle prove so abundantly with their refusals to do real interviews and walking away from reporters asking questions show. And we all know, the reason rgey won't give interviews is because each one of them is an airhead with nothing of any practicalirt or substance to run on. They are intellectually bankrupt.
tnlib,
I am humbled and flattered by your very kind words and encouragement. Thank you for stopping by, and you are most welcome anytime.
You may do whatever you wish with this post. I agree that the more who read it, right or left, the better.
I just may take your advice and submit this post to the Washington Post and New York Times. I thank you very much for the suggestion. Blog on, brother!
Hello Jack,
I myself have been so torn of what to write next. I need to sort my mind, thoughts, feelings, etc. on what is going on in the current events. Many times I am just too pissed, angry, frustrated, or discourage trying to come to grip with the directions of what seems to be the stupid majority here in the States.
I think we are going to be in for some long, hard, dark, times ahead. The hatred protest movements towards the Muslim religion, Latino immigrants, the capitalizing on the hard economic times and unemployment or at best under-employment; one can draw many parallels to the rise of the Nazis in 1930’s Germany, Ottoman Turks in 1915, etc. I can go back through history and site many examples of where this can all lead and all are viewed with shame in hindsight.
Jack: Thanks. One thing, though. "Brother" is a "sister." : )
WHY ARE YOU SO PARANOID? Why do you fear and distrust Muslims, African-Americans, Hispanics, Europeans, intellectuals, the poor - anybody who might be a bit different than you, or who may disagree with you on something?
All good questions and like Truth said you will never get an answer much less a honest one.
The above is my favorite though, working in the middle of a nest of such creatures all you have to do is listen and the answer will quickly be apparent.
Engineer of Knowledge,
I share your frustration, and, believe me, you're not the first blogger I've see4n compare our current situation to 1930s Germany. When I think scary thoughts like that, it makes me all the more determined to stand fast and and call out with the voice of reason FOR reason! You are a good and conscientious man, and a good historian, too. Fight on, my good man!
----------------
tnlib,
OMG! Sorry for the gender confusion! No assumption on my part; just a stupid mistake!
---------------
Beach,
You're right. Some people actually do hate truth and knowledge, and have minds that are welded completely shut. That we have so many of these today is a sign of the tragic nature of this point in history...
"I share your frustration, and, believe me, you're not the first blogger I've see4n compare our current situation to 1930s Germany."
Just one more example of the "for insult's sake" equating the other side to Nazis that is way too common. Although it comes more from the right these days, your comment shows that it still comes from the left.
dmarks,
There is plenty of evidence for my having made that correlation. The number of blatantly racist signs seen at various Tea Party rallies (Obama with a bone through his nose; Obama with the hammer and sickle icon; Obama made to look like Shrek), people bringing guns to far-right political rallies, the far-right's endorsement of pre-emptive military action across the globe, and the large increase in armed militia groups across the country are all legitimate examples of this similarity with 1930s Germany. When even a self-admitted Republican like Engineer of Knowledge is bemoaning the far-right shift his party has taken (and millions of moderate conservatives have left the party as well), I would say it is high time for modern "conservatives" to wake up and smell the coffee. The concern here should be not what I or others are saying about the resemblance between 1930s Germany and today's Republicans and teabaggers, but what the Republicans and teabaggers are themselves doing to create this poor image. Indeed, the concern should be with the extremism and hateful intolerance of these far-right elements rather than with observations others make about them.
WHY DO YOU KEEP CLAIMING TO BE "PRO-LIFE"?
This is one of my favorites. When soneone tells me they are pro-life, I ask "How long have you opposed capital punishment?" They invariably responsond that they are for capital punishment, and I reply, "I see. So you're pro-death."
TomCat,
Yrah, it's quite paradoxical, like when the Republicans criticize Obama's stimulus effort for not creating enough jobs, after their own economic policies led to huge job losses and the export of jobs. Those righties are all liars, hypocrites, and thieves! My next post that I'm working on (tomorrow?) will focus on their nonstop lying.
Hello Jack,
With reference to "Standing Fast" I wanted to pass on the news from the 1st district of Maryland.
This past Sunday, two days before the primary vote, I got my Sarah Palin recorded Republican message telling me who she supported in all of the Republican primary races here in Maryland and the 1st district. I took due notice of each and every name and made sure that I voted the opposite Republican candidate tonight in the primary.
On the other hand, I did hear on the news tonight that the Republicans are voting in the primaries across the country at a record turnout. The Republicans have out voted the Democrats for the first time since the early 1930’s. I am of the mind that this is a foretelling of the Republicans showing up in numbers this November, more so than the Democrats causing Republicans victory in all races from dog catcher to Senator.
Engineer of Knowledge,
I tip my hat to you for bucking the lunatic Palin influence and for voting for candidates who have some legitimacy and aren't far-right extremists.
Regarding the Democrats, many of them are disappointed in Obama and feel he has let them down on the war, Gitmo still being open, and that he has been so conciliatory toward the Republicans, who haven't given him the time of day since his first day in office. Many aren't taking part in the primaries and may very well even stay home in November, which I believe would be a horrible mistake. The ultra-conservative Tea Party movement, supposedly a grassroots effort, but in reality created and stoked ever so sneakily by Dick Armey and big far-right money from the likes of the Kochs, has done a very good job of anschluss within the GOP, by bringing in a boatload of disgruntled, fearful, previously apolitical types. This has enabled the far right to swamp the party and take it over completely. It also accounts for the enthusiasm and record turnout among "Republican" voters. This could and probably will end up in large Republican gains this year, but this will be a temporary phenomenon, in my view. I believe that when these people see what the far right will do to them eventually, they will fade away like water droplets on hot tar on a blisteringly sunny day. For the new ultra-conservatives will do nothing for job creation, will attempt to privatize everything (with horrible effects on the elderly, poor, and middle class), and will cater to the very wealthy and big business as never before. Then, they'll REALLY feel betrayed and miserable, and that will take care of the temporary "Republican" majority. But---we'll see...
Great job! I deeply believe that, if we continue to talk rationally, speak honestly, and refuse to leave the field to fools, it will matter. We may not know when or how, but it will matter.
So, here's to your post: You make a difference.
Leslie of Parsely's Pics sent me over here and I am so glad she did. You are going on my blog roll right now.
Even though you are preaching to the choir, it needs to be asked. I hope all of your followers will forward it to their Republican friends. There might possible be one open mind out there.
Nance,
Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but this appeared after I had already moved on to my succeeding post. Please drop by again. :-)

Darlene,
Thank YOU for stopping by, too.Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but this appeared after I had already moved on to my succeeding post. I hope you're right about there being at least one open Republican mind out there! (There don't seem to be too many of them these days). Please drop by again. :-)
